Getting to bonus mode ... following Clefairy's lead

A few hours ago Zero mentioned this. Exactly what should you do when Clefairy starts swinging his arms?

When Clefairy first pops out, you have an increased chance of getting all 7s or all Gs. Doing so will open bonus mode. From what I've seen, if you try to time the button presses with his claps, you should have a good chance of doing this.

Once in bonus mode, Clefairy will point up left or right. Simply press the button that corresponds to the reel he's pointing to. Doing this should result in getting 3 Rs everytime.

Each bonus round lasts 15 spins, after which Clefairy may stay out for another round. This is signified by either two Pikachu cheering him on, popping in the ball and right back out (the scariest) or just standing there.

Learning how to keep him out is the trick, and I'm not sure I fully understand, but what I've read indicates that hitting buttons while the moon is red will lessen the likelyhood of Clefairy staying out. When the moon flashes white (and makes the sound) you want to hit the buttons as soon as possible (according to one FAQ at least).

Last night I played simply following his lead (relatively slowly) and making sure not to hit buttons while the moon was red. I screwed up the order once, and didn't worry too much about the white moon, and made it to 9 rounds in the first try (so close!).

Game Corner FAQ

Update*
After retalking to people at the casino, its not just a matter of not hitting buttons when the moon is red. When the moon is red you want to hit them in the wrong order, otherwise "getting a Replay will make Clefairy tired" or something like that.

If this is all there is, getting Explosion should take less than half an hour in the Game Corner.

Okay, so playing a little at lunch proved that its still not a cakewalk. The FAQ also mentions that the Pokeball Clefairy pops out of relates to how long he can go without being tired. It mentions the different looking clefairy seperately, but I thought it was just that each ball had a different looking clefairy. I'll have to pay more attention.

Regardless it still seems getting Explosion is easier than getting U-Turn (a TM I plan on stocking up on)
