I don't know if you all have tried to play pokemon via wifi this evening, but if you have, you'll notice it isn't working. Well, it follows that people would be curious about whether it was working or not in the wifi/battling chat room in Serebii. However, the ops are so anal that they get tired of people asking if wifi is still down, but if wifi is down, then there is no battling and trading to talk about!
Anyways, this is just a rant, but I'm officially through with the atmosphere in that chat room and aside from using resources like their iv calculator or pokedex (and maybe not even for that), I cannot see myself returning to their chat rooms EVER.

I just created a yahoo group because I think there is a way to create a chat room in the group. This is in no way a replacement for this site, but it may make it easier for people to find us. I'll be sending invitations to everyone in our email group.
Explain this post to me a ... I thought the serebii wifi chat room was the only place you could talk about trades and battles. Are you refering to that when you say "wifi was down"? Meaning the chat room was down?
I guess I could have been clearer. So yesterday, wifi (or at least pokemon ds wifi) was bugging out as it sometimes does. Many people were naturally curious as to what was going on and whether wifi was working for anyone else. Even though there are dozens of people pouring in and out of the chat room, the moderators of Serebii's wifi/battling chat room get irritated by people asking about wifi's status. And will strongly encourage people to "get on topic" or get booted.
This just was kind of the final straw for me as there are many irritating things about the serebii chat room that I've dealt with because there are some decent people who battle and trade in there. But my point is this (and I raised it to the moderators yesterday evening), if nintendo wifi was down and no one's able to trade or battle, what precisely is the "topic" that the mods what people to stay on??? If they were that irritated by people asking about wifi, then they should have just closed the chat room until wifi was working again.
did you get booted? ... I saw yesterday people were complaining about that, but I didn't know what to make of it b/c my one and only trade went through.
I do agree that the mods on the chatroom have rods up their butts, but on the plus side, when they boot you, it only lasts for about 5 to ten minutes. But if the mods didn't enforce the rules so harshly, their chatroom would probably end up like smogon's irc chat. I went on their chat two times, and neither time was anyone talking about pokemon or even interested in talking about pokemon. The only problem i have with serebii is the younger people on it. Most battles aren't competative, and like 15% of the people disconnect before they lose
Actually, the funny part is that I didn't get booted last night. I just got tired of seeing the mods threaten people with being booted.
In the past, I have been booted on hearsay and since I've been using it for so long, I've seen people booted for really stupid reasons.
Anyway, I created a yahoo group and a chat room that is by invitation only, but once approved, anyone can get into by simply following the link and entering the following password, "ECPL".
